Joining the Center’s Ani Huang and HR Policy’s Tim Bartl were:
- Margaret Engel, Partner, Compensation Advisory Partners LLC
- James Garvie, SVP, Human Resources, Total Rewards & Technology, Southern Company
- Brooke Arena, VP, Legal – Employment & Social Impact, Visa
Ms. Engel noted a wide range of practices due to the total lack of standardization or guidance around human capital management disclosures, but also questioned the utility of a standard, noting that companies may prefer to exercise flexibility. According to CAP’s recent report, companies have focused on the following topics for disclosure:
- Culture and core values
- Demographics
- Initiatives relating to improved diversity & inclusion and pay equity
- Broad-based total rewards programs
- Talent recruitment and development
- Employee engagement
- Health & safety initiatives
Mr. Garvie and Ms. Arena shared their companies’ approaches to transparency around human capital management disclosures. Southern Company has highlighted its evolving approach to human capital and incorporating it into long-term company strategies while Visa has put the spotlight on diversity and inclusion both globally and in the U.S. as well as its response to COVID-19, employee benefits, and employee engagement and development.
Thank you very much to our panelists, and we hope to see many of you at a webinar in the near future.
